EcoDisc is a new design for DVD that has the same playablity and reliability as a replicated DVD5 but uses half the raw materials and less energy in maufacture process which in turn results in a 50% reduction the CO2 emissions.  This equate to a reduction of 68.91 grams of CO2 for every disc made!!!

In the last 3 years it has been used extensively to replace all types of DVD5 i.e. DVD-Video and DVD-ROM (data) in small and large scale applications including newspaper cover mount DVDs and has proven itself to be highly successful and just as reliable as standard DVDs.

When compared to DVD5 our EcoDiscs are / have:

Example CO2 Savings in Ecodisc Project

Definitive Media has currently (as of Sept 2009) an EcosDisc DVD Video project for a newspaper cover mount project involving 630,000 units.

Manufacturing on EcoDisc significantly reduces Carbon Emissions.
    • CO2 saving per disc = 68.91 grams
    • Total CO2 saving 630K = 630,000 x 68.91 grams
                                                 = 43,413.3 kgs 
                                                 = 43.4 Metric Tons of CO2!!!
    • This is equivalent to driving an Audi A4 – 226,689 miles
    • Or around the Equator 10.9 times!!
